How to make your university room feel like home

Moving into a strange student house miles and miles away from home with a group of strangers is hands down one of the scariest things I have ever done.

SO to get over this very traumatising experience I decided to make my room as homely as possible. I did this first by moving in my 1000s of possessions - I have a massive wardrobe like at least 4 metres wide as well as drawers and loads of cupboard space. So as well as that and my abundance of notebooks and approximately 6 billion pens I did lots of different things to put my stamp on what I now call 'home'. Obviously I am kinda restricted by not being allowed to stick things on the walls or put a mirror on the wall. I would LOVE to put some cute prints above my bed - but I do want my deposit back at the end of my tenancy so I make do!

I think THE MOST important thing to feeling at home and cosy in your new room is your bed. Now I'm sure most student rentals come furnished - like mine did. So you can't chose the furniture but you can make it work for you. So I chose the cutest bed sheets I could find in my budget - I picked up some super cute pink ones from Ikea (in the photo) and also a marbled set from Asda. I really love the quality of the Asda set, they are super soft but I love the Ikea ones as well basically because they're pink.

CUSHIONS are also a great comforter and I feel like they really add to the decoration of the room. They are also really cosy for movie nights and naps in general. I chose some that fitted with the general vibe I was going for - Pink/Grey/Fluffy. As you can tell - I'm not an interior design student. Basically I liked them they were sort of cheap - so I got them. They make my bed 10x comfier and look at lot better than not having them lol.

My desk is where I spend a hell of a lot of my time. I use it for everything, doing my makeup, writing blog posts, reading, writing essays and any other things. So this is a place I really like to keep tidy. I like the motto 'a tidy desk keeps a tidy mind'. It's just something my tutor always praises and I kinda like it. So I keep things in jars and boxes and tend to keep things in neat piles to keep things tidy. I also try to keep paper to a minimum when it comes to my studies - to save the trees obvs and I focus on keeping all my notes on my laptop, or in 'the cloud'.

I also have these shelves in my room - they were here when I moved in. I didn't want to keep them empty but they're also kinda shitty so I couldn't put anything too heavy on them. But I did invest in some cute rose gold things - like this light bulb caged thingy. I don't really understand what it is but it's super cute and I love having little bits of light around in the evening to make it much more cosy. I also picked up these cute postcards from Scribbler. I just thought these were really cute and added to the room with a bit of colour!

And finally I really like to have a plant in the room. I got this little succulent from Ikea, the gold pot is also from Ikea. It's really grown loads over the last year and I like looking after something even though it doesn't need looking after that much. In the windows I also have these pink paper ring things that I got from Tiger a few months ago, again I thought they were cute and added some extra colour. BUT they have REALLY faded from being in the sun.

That's all from me today, I hope this gives you some insight into how to decorate your uni room and make it personal to you.

I now love my room and wouldn't want it any other way! Except maybe to get rid of the gross red carpet - I think I might need to buy a rug!!

Love,
Molly x x
